Discrimination

Your qualifications should be the only thing that you are judged on when applying and interviewing for a job.  However, sometimes that is not the case.

Discrimination is treatment or consideration of making a distinction in favor of or against a person based on specific characteristics.

There are many types of discrimination that prevent people from getting a job.  Some examples are:

It is important to know what discrimination is.  Often times we are not aware of the act but being informed helps to bring the problem to the surface.  Knowing how to prevent discrimination is also important.  There are certain things you can add or omit from your resume that make the playing field more even.  Also, knowing who to talk to if there is an issue with discrimination will help to solve future problems.
