New Year Resolutions for Employers

As the boss you have many responsibilities.  Basically you are the one who needs to make sure everything runs smoothly. Of course you have help but ultimately you are the leader of the pack.  In addition to having everything run smoothly, you also need to make sure goals are met and improved upon.  With a new year coming up, what better time than now to evaluate what you need to do and how to do it?

Go ahead and get out your pen and paper and start making your list of New Year Resolutions for you as an employer and for your company.

Unsure of where to start?  Here are a few ideas that will help get you started:

1. Encourage more diversity and different talents.

2. Encourage a more lively work environment.

3. Provide more detailed and specific training for new and seasoned employees.

4. Seek advice and suggestions from peers.

5. Create time to speak with and listen to your employees.

6. Update contracts and forms to present day qualifications.

7. Incorporate more social media into your business life (whether it is simply learning about it or actually using it.)

8. Encourage employees (as well as yourself) to learn something new outside of business.

9. Focus on relationships between your company and clients, paying special attention to small details.

10. Do you part in doing small things around the office (ex: picking up a piece of trash or cleaning out the community refrigerator once in a while). Your small contributions will be noticed and others will follow, making your peers want to help out more.
