Fordham University

Fordham University

Bronx, New York, NY

Ainsley Thedinger graduated in May, 2012 with a History major.  While she was at the university she was part of the Rose Hill Society Ambassadors.

What was your first day like?

"My first day was very confusing and nerve wracking. Despite the small campus size, I felt overwhelmed by the unfamiliarity. Luckily every other freshman was eager to make friends, so I grew more comfortable quickly. It is always awkward not knowing anyone, but it's really quite easy to build a group of friends when everyone's in the same boat."

How did you adjust from high school to college?

"The most difficult adjustment was making decisions on how to use my free time wisely. I didn't realize how much the structured schedule of high school kept me in line with my studies and extracurricular activities."

Why did you choose Fordham University?

"I chose Fordham mainly because of the small size of about 5,000 students and its proximity to downtown New York City. The small size allowed me to feel like it was a close community, and the location opened up many opportunities for exploring and pursuit of internship experience."

What is your favorite part of Fordham?

"The beautiful campus and proximity to the city."

What advice do you have for incoming freshmen?

"I advise incoming freshmen to be aware of the struggles of balancing and managing time wisely. Buckle down when you have to, but let loose when you can!"
